Happy Chinese New Year!

Established in 1889, the famous Pokolbin Estate cottage was originally situated on a property opposite one of the first boutique vineyards in Australia, the old “Kirkton Vineyard”. It was then commissioned to be rebuilt by a local stonemason on its current property in Pokolbin; the sandstone cellar door has been rebuilt to its former glory, with the exception of a sleek modern interior, state of the art technology and beautifully landscaped surrounds.

Our award winning wines include the only Nebbiolo and Riesling to be grown in the Hunter Valley, along with Shiraz, Sangiovese, Tempranillo and Semillon.  All vines are hand pruned, picked and carefully tendered, to ensure the best quality fruit is obtained.

Best Open Vintage Red the fragrant bouquet of wild berry fruit leads into an intense focused and long palate, with fruit to the fore, the tannins are superfine. The palate is richly flavoured, with a great depth of fruit and a lingering savoury tannin structure, owing much to the high quality French oak.

Colour: Superb depth of purple hues

'Phoenix' Shiraz Tempranillo: 2017

In 2011 a fire devastated the winery; this wine is a celebration of the new winery and cellar door, hence ‘Pheonix” – rising out of the ashes. One of Pokolbin Estate’s biggest selling red wines, a 50/50% blend, combing the depth and complexity of a young Shiraz with the soft cherry fruits of the Tempranillo. Bold, deep and balanced, the go to red for any occasion, pairing beautifully with red meats or as an all round social wine. Overall it is a well-balanced celebration of a  great vintage.

Bouquet: Soft spices with cherry plum and leather.

'Bela Rosa' Sangiovese: 2019

Bela Rosa is made from the Italian Sangiovese grape picked at our Belebula Vineyard in Pokolbin. This wine is a luscious light fruity red wine with pronounced cherry and cranberry fruit notes. Designed to be served chilled, this wine has a subtle fruitiness that pairs well with red meat dishes, spicy foods and tapas.

Bouquet: Cherry candy with a hint of vanilla

'Late Harvest' Riesling: 2017

This wine has a beautiful fruity sweetness but not overpowering. These grapes are picked a couple weeks later in comparison to a dry Riesling, ultimately resulting in the development of more residual fruit sugars.

Colour: Light yellow with soft touches of gold.
Bouquet: Luscious tropical pineapple, lime, peach & nectarine

'Neil's Autumn' Riesling: 2016

Not utilizing the traditional Botrytis, the Autumn Harvest Riesling, as the name suggests, is left on the vine to caramelize and self-sweeten. A thinner consistency to most, and restricted sweetness makes the Neil’s Autumn Riesling one of the most popular dessert wines in the Hunter Valley.

Colour: Regal golden yellow
Bouquet: Honey & floral hibiscus notes balanced with an underlying subtle citrus aroma.
Cellaring: To 2026
